Privacy Policy

Effective date: May 2026

Help My Kid is built for parents. We take your privacy, and your kid's, seriously. Here's what we collect, why, and what we do with it, in plain language.

What we collect

To make the app work, we collect:

  • Photos of homework you take in the app
  • Account info (your email, via Sign in with Apple or Google)
  • Your language preference and your child's grade level
  • Your subscription status

How we handle homework photos

When you snap a photo, we send it to our AI provider for analysis so we can give you a clear explanation. Photos are stored in your account so you can browse your homework history later. They aren't shared with third parties or used for advertising.

AI processing

We use OpenAI's GPT-4o to analyze homework. The photo and a small amount of context are sent to OpenAI's API for processing. OpenAI does not train its models on data sent through their API; their API data retention policies apply.

Payments

Subscriptions are handled by Apple App Store or Google Play. We never see or store your credit card. Subscription processing on our end is managed by RevenueCat on behalf of Apple and Google.

Where your data lives

Your data is stored on Supabase, hosted on AWS. It's encrypted in transit and at rest.

Children's privacy (COPPA)

Help My Kid is for parents, not children. The app isn't directed at kids under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them. You photograph your child's homework; your child does not use the app.

Deleting your data

You can delete your account and everything attached to it, homework history, photos, profile, from the Settings screen in the app. Deletion is permanent.
